🪓 Safe-Zoning to 99 Woodcutting in Deadman Mode

The Gnome Stronghold Method (World 345 Only)

If you're reading this, you already know — Deadman Mode is brutal. Every open-world skilling spot is a calculated risk, and PvPers are always hunting the weak. But there is one method that defies the chaos:

Chopping Willows in the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

No skulled players. No teleblockers. No 7-second panic logouts. Just pure XP and logs — in peace.

Stylized image of two low-poly woodcutting characters from Old School RuneScape standing on either side of a central Woodcutting skill icon. The character on the left wears a green hood and holds an axe over their shoulder, while the character on the right wears red and grey, holding chopped logs and a hatchet. A forest background is visible behind them.

✅ Why the Gnome Stronghold?

The Tree Gnome Stronghold, northwest of Ardougne, is one of the only areas in World 345 that is:

  • 100% PvP Safe

  • Surrounded by banks and agility shortcuts

  • Home to multiple Willow Trees

It's the perfect spot for:

  • Ironmen avoiding risk

  • Mains rushing 99 Woodcutting

  • Resource alts farming logs for Fletching or selling

📈 XP Rates (Baseline)

On standard servers, chopping Willows here offers:

  • ~50,000–55,000 XP per hour

  • Low click intensity (AFK friendly)

  • Consistent log drops

In Deadman Mode, XP rates are significantly higher due to boosted mechanics — so expect much faster gains than these normal server benchmarks.

🔁 How to Train 1–99 the Safe Way

If you’re fully avoiding PvP, here’s the cleanest path:

Level

Method

Location

1–15

Regular Trees

Gnome Stronghold

15–35

Oak Trees

Grange Exchange/Gnome Stronghold

35–99

Willow Trees

Gnome Stronghold ✅

From 35 onwards, you can safely stay in the Stronghold until 99. No tick manipulation required. Just chop, bank, and repeat.

💰 Turning Logs Into Profit: Magic Logs + Fletching

Once you hit 75 Woodcutting, you unlock Magic Trees. These are in high-risk areas like the Woodcutting Guild and Myths’ Guild — so if you're venturing out, be prepared.

But here’s the secret:

Deadman Mode triples your log drops (with the right charm). That means every Magic log chopped has huge value — especially if turned into Magic Longbows (u).

Fletching your Magic Logs not only trains a second skill rapidly but also:

  • Compresses inventory space

  • Maximizes GP per hour

  • Can lead to massive profit margins due to scarcity in World 345

Hot Tip: Stockpiling + Accumulation charms let you gather and bank logs passively — making Magic Logs + Fletching one of the best money makers in Deadman Mode.

🧠 Final Thoughts

You don’t have to live dangerously to reach 99 in Deadman Mode. Sometimes, the best play is the quiet grind — tucked away in a gnome fortress, watching the rest of the world tear itself apart while your XP bar climbs.

So if you’re building your account, preparing your main, or just want a peaceful 99…

Chop willows. Bank logs. Stay alive.

Deadman Mode doesn’t forgive mistakes — but it rewards the prepared.
